Laguna Beach Campus

In order to make your visit as efficient as possible, we encourage patients to pre-register online. Once registered, patients can be assured our professionals will be prepared for their visit, enabling them to complete their visit and checkout without delay. For insurance verification purposes, it is recommended that this form be submitted at least three days prior to your expected admitting date.

All patients need to stop by their designated registration area to complete the registration process. Patients are expected to pay all deductibles, coinsurance or co-payments at the time of service. 

Pre-Registration via phone

You can call Mission Main Registration at 949-499-1311 ext. 7167 for the Laguna Beach campus and ask one of our registrars to pre-register you over the phone. If a registrar is unavailable, please leave a voicemail and your call will be promptly returned.

Pre-Registration via fax

Download and complete the Adobe Acrobat Online Pre-Admission Form and fax it to Mission Main Registration at 949-365-2306. For insurance verification purposes, it is recommended that you fax the registration form at least three days prior to your expected admitting date.

Visiting hours in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and Medical-Surgical Unit are 24/7 with limited exceptions as deemed by the health care team. Out of respect for patients in semi-private rooms, recommended visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Beach Café

Both Mission Hospital campuses offer a cafeteria for visitors. For health and safety reasons, patients are asked not to utilize the cafeteria. The doctor will prescribe a special diet for your loved one to ensure proper dietary needs are met. Please do not purchase food from the cafeteria for your loved one as it may not be on the special diet. Please check with your loved one’s nurse to assure food brought in from outside the hospital is on their special diet.

The Beach Café is located on the first floor and open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at meal times and Grab ‘N Go items are available all day. A variety of snacks and beverages are available 24/7 in the vending room located next to the dining area in the Beach Café.

The gift shop at our Laguna Beach campus is located in the main lobby which is on the second floor. The gift shop is open Mon. - Fri. from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Advance Care Planning (ACP) encourages patients and families to talk about and document their care preferences in advance to ensure that the care they receive is aligned with their goals, values, and priorities. We have provided resources for you and your family to help you have the conversation and document your wishes in writing.

An advance health care directive lets your physician, family and friends know your healthcare preferences, including the types of special treatment you want or do not want at the end of life, your desire for diagnostic testing, surgical procedures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and organ donation. By considering your options early, you can ensure the quality of life that is important to you and avoid having your family make critical medical care decisions for you under stress or in emotional turmoil.

How to get started

The best time to start the conversation about the kind of care you’d want if you were in an accident or became seriously ill is now. The Institute for Human Caring is dedicated to engaging the community and health care providers in conversations about what matters and ensuring that our patient’s care preferences are honored. We can help you think about the care you’d want, talk to your loved ones about your decisions, choose your advocate and complete an advance directive.

Start the Conversation with these Four Steps:

  • THINK - about your values, goals and care preferences if you were to become seriously ill
  • TALK - to your loved ones about these care preferences
  • CHOOSE - someone to speak for you if you can’t speak for yourself
  • COMPLETE - an Advance Directive

Five Wishes serves as an Advance Directive and is a legally-valid tool available for your use. Five Wishes helps ensure your wishes, and those of your loved ones, will be respected-even if you cannot speak for yourself.

POLST (Physician Order for Life Sustaining Treatment)

Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) is a physician order that outlines a plan of care reflecting a patient’s wishes concerning care at life’s end. The POLST form is voluntary and is intended to:

  • Help you and your patient discuss and develop plans to reflect his or her wishes
  • Assist physicians, nurses, healthcare facilities, and emergency personnel in honoring a person’s wishes for life-sustaining treatment

To better understand the needs of our patients and their families, Mission Hospital encourages former patients and family members of former patients to develop Patient & Family Advisory Councils.

Our mission for the Councils is to actively engage patients and families as partners with Mission Hospital, in support of our philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care. The Councils seek to enhance the delivery of care by providing a collaborative vehicle of communication between families and hospital staff to improve the health care experience. The Councils exemplify our hopes for Mission Hospital to continue to maintain and enhance the level of healthcare services our community has come to rely upon.

The goals of the Advisory Councils are:

  • Provide a vital link between Mission Hospital and the community
  • Provide supportive channels of communication between families and hospital staff
  • Provide input and feedback on delivery of services for patients and their families
  • Review issues referred to the Patient and Family Advisory Council and provide recommendations
  • Monitor, evaluate, and address needs and issues of multicultural families
  • Provide input regarding new and existing program development
  • Promote an environment offering excellent and safe health care through collaboration of families and staff.

Mission Hospital currently has three Patient & Family Advisory Councils: Critical Care Service Line, Women's Service Line, and Mission Hospital Laguna Beach. The councils meet monthly and are currently involved with hospital orientations and join hospital staff at staff meetings to directly engage the perspective of the patient and family. Their contributions to the care environment have been significant, ranging from input on visitation policies, individualized care plans, the patient/family meeting process, and marketing campaigns to participating in process improvement teams and serving as community ambassadors.
