Helping Laguna Beach & Mission Viejo Stay Healthy

Mission Hospital has an established history of community service for the residents of south Orange County. We are committed to improving the health and quality of life of the people we serve. A cornerstone of the work we do is through partnerships, working with others “of like minds” to create change. We work with dozens of local non-profits, faith based organizations, civic leaders and local residents to understand and respond to the needs of the community.

When it comes to health, peoples’ minds deserve the same attention as their bodies. That’s why Mission Hospital is activating Each Mind Matters, California’s Mental Health Movement, in South Orange County. The statewide initiative was created to unite millions of individuals who share a vision of improved mental health and equality for all.

Established in 1996, the South Orange County Family Resource Center (SOCFRC) has been serving approximately 5,000 people each year. In 1998, the Community Health Enrichment Collaborative Family Resource Center (CHEC FRC) opened to better serve the residents of San Juan Capistrano and neighboring communities. The Family Resource Centers bring together services and activities that educate, support and provide resources for families in need.

Programs include parent, teen and child education classes, support groups, counseling services, and information/resources. Many programs are offered in Spanish and can be provided in the community at local schools, churches or in home. The Family Resource Centers are a collaborative effort between Mission Hospital, The Raise Foundation, Children’s Bureau of Southern California, Human Options and a variety of other social service agencies.

These programs have continued to flourish, serving residents throughout South Orange County. With over 20 faith communities working in partnership with Mission Hospital, new programs and services have been implemented to bring wholeness to those who are suffering.

In April 1996, Mission Hospital partnered with Age Well Senior Services to address the non-emergency medical transportation needs of the elderly and disabled in South Orange County. Through the senior transportation program, nearly 3,000 rides are provided each year to both Mission Hospital campuses. To find out more about this program call 877- 459-3627 (DOCS) .
