Those who benefit most from physical therapy are individuals who need to improve balance, restore injured body parts, increase flexibility or build strength. Therapy may also help people who are experiencing dizziness, vertigo or frequent falls. We also help improve posture, which if left uncorrected can cause damaging musculoskeletal conditions. Additionally, we help patients who have undergone surgeries and who are in need of therapy to regain optimal physical functionality. If you suffer from urinary incontinence (loss of bladder control) or pelvic pain, therapy may be an effective treatment.
For your visit, please arrive 15 minutes before your schedule appointment to ensure enough time to check in with the receptionist and fill out any necessary paperwork.
Please bring the following to your appointment:
- Co-payment if required by your insurance plan
- Detailed history of symptoms and treatments, including prior doctors and surgeons
- Full list of medications with dosages, including over-the-counter supplements
- List of your allergies
- List of your questions or specific concerns
- Photo ID and insurance card
Some intake forms may be completed prior to your appointment using your MyChart account.
We highly recommend you bring comfortable, nonrestrictive clothing or athletic wear. Your clothes should also allow us to evaluate your area of injury, so please dress accordingly. As for footwear, we suggest comfortable, closed-toe shoes, preferably sneakers. If you have any questions, please contact us prior to your first appointment.
You will need to attend physical therapy sessions until you and your therapist decide that you have reached your desired level of function or that further therapy would not be beneficial. Often therapy will also be monitored by your physician.
Your improvement may depend on several factors, including your condition and treatment plan. That plan is tailored to your specific needs and will include follow-up and regular maintenance visits to our clinics.
If at any point you feel your progress isn't meeting your expectations, we'll work with you to modify the treatment plan and keep you informed every step of the way.
After your initial evaluation, we will send a copy of the examination to your doctor, along with progress notes at regular intervals.
We will make every attempt to schedule you with the therapist you prefer. However, there may be times when a different physical therapist or physical therapist assistant will treat you in order to accommodate your schedule. All of our physical therapists and physical therapist assistants are fully licensed and/or certified and are committed to delivering high-quality care.
Generally, most insurance companies cover rehabilitation services. We recommend that you call the member services or benefits number listed on your insurance card to verify your coverage before you start therapy. If you do not carry insurance, self-pay (cash) payment plans are available.
Most insurance companies require a physician's referral for physical therapy, which you will need to bring to your first appointment. Medicare may require that the patient be seen by their physician every 30 days to continue receiving therapy.
