Bike fit

Providence uses a comprehensive analysis system to help you achieve optimal biking performance.

Our specialty-trained therapist conducts an evaluation to find out the your specific needs, desires and goals. Using video analysis, the therapist shares findings and provides recommendations to enhance and optimize your performance. Be prepared to bring your bicycle and any other related riding gear.

Gait & running analysis

Runners of any level may be seen for comprehensive analysis for preventing and treating injuries, as well as for improving running technique and efficacy. Our physical therapy running experts have extensive training in running biomechanical analysis.

We will first review with you your running history and goals. Your running analysis will include a comprehensive evaluation of your flexibility, strength and stability. Through running video analysis we can work with you on your running technique to help minimize and prevent injury, as well as improve efficiency of your running. We will provide corrective exercise prescription tailored to your needs. After analysis of your foot structure we will provide shoe and orthotic choices that are best suited for you.

Golf performance

The greatest tool in the game of golf is your body. Our program includes an initial evaluation, followed by a customized training regiment. The program may include a simple one-time evaluation or follow-up therapy sessions. Packages may include one-on-one visits or group programs. Your insurance company may cover the cost of treatment.

The program is a customized evaluation of your body's ability to help you improve your body's ability to perform an efficient golf swing:

  • Posture
  • Strength
  • Balance
  • Flexibility
Foot orthotics

Foot orthotics can help decrease stress on the body by correcting anatomical alignment while standing, walking and running. Our physical therapists can assess your feet and posture to determine if orthotics would be beneficial in treating your symptoms. Orthotics can be used to treat many different foot types such as flat feet to control motion, or high arches to provide cushion and shock absorption.

Foot orthotics can help treat:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Recurrent ankle sprains
  • Neck pain
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Shin splints
  • IT band syndrome
  • Knee pain
  • Hip bursitis
  • Low back pain

After assessing your foot mobility and alignment, we will discuss if semi-custom or custom orthotics would better fit your needs. If custom orthotics are needed, a mold of your foot is taken with casting material. That mold is then sent to a lab to make your orthotic. This process takes about seven to ten days. When your orthotics arrive at our clinic, we will schedule a consultation for the fitting and usage of the device. Custom orthotics can be designed to fit into a variety of shoes from high heels and dress shoes to athletic shoes.
