Our Approach

At Providence Vein Center in Spokane, we take time to understand your symptoms, concerns and goals. Our vein specialists evaluate your condition and work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs.

Your care may include advanced imaging, in-office procedures and follow-up support designed to help relieve symptoms, improve circulation and support your overall well-being.

We offer minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins, spider veins and other vein conditions. Many procedures are performed in our office with little or no downtime, so you can get back to your daily life as soon as possible.

Because some vein problems are not visible on the surface, we may use ultrasound to better understand what is causing your symptoms. From there, we build a care plan based on your screening, overall health and personal risk factors.

As part of Providence, our team can also coordinate your vein care with other providers when needed, helping you receive connected care that supports your health beyond your visit.

Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicose veins. During the procedure, laser energy is delivered through a thin fiber inserted into the affected vein. The heat causes the vein wall to collapse and seal shut. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the treated vein, and blood is redirected to healthy veins.

The procedure is typically performed in the office using local anesthesia and usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes. After treatment, patients are generally encouraged to walk and wear compression stockings as directed by their physician.

Choosing to receive your heart care at one of our locations means choosing doctors that stay personally involved in your long-term heart health.

Microambulatory Phlebectomy (MAPS), also known as microphlebectomy or ambulatory phlebectomy, is a minimally invasive procedure used to remove larger varicose veins close to the surface of the skin. During the procedure, the provider makes a series of tiny punctures or incisions over the affected vein and removes the vein in small sections using specialized instruments.

The punctures are so small that they typically do not require stitches and are closed with adhesive strips. The procedure is performed in the office using local anesthesia, allowing most patients to return to normal activities within a day or two.

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicose veins. Instead of laser energy, it uses radiofrequency energy to heat the vein wall, causing the vein to collapse and seal shut. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the treated vein, and blood is rerouted through healthy veins.

The procedure is typically performed in the office using local (tumescent) anesthesia and usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. After treatment, patients are encouraged to walk and wear compression stockings as directed by their physician.

Used to treat spider veins and small varicose veins, sclerotherapy is also performed in the office. The provider injects medication into the vein using a tiny needle. The medication damages the vein, causing it to collapse and shut. In time, the vein becomes less visible and eventually disappears. You may need just one, or several sessions, depending upon the type and number of veins being treated.

With sclerotherapy anesthesia is not needed. Most patients experience little discomfort, although the injections may cause a mild burning or stinging sensation for a few seconds. The treatment itself takes 20-30 minutes. You may experience minimal discomfort, along with bruising and discoloration. You can resume normal activities immediately.

We offer a variety of treatment options for patients who suffer from varicose and spider veins.

VenaSeal™ Closure is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicose veins without heat. During the procedure, a specially formulated medical adhesive is delivered through a catheter into the affected vein, sealing it closed. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the treated vein, and blood is rerouted through healthy veins.

Because VenaSeal does not use thermal energy, it typically does not require tumescent anesthesia along the treated vein, reducing the number of needle sticks compared with thermal ablation procedures. Most patients experience little discomfort and can return to normal activities shortly after treatment. Depending on the physician's recommendations and whether additional vein procedures are performed, compression stockings may not be necessary after treatment.
