Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center’s statement on strike by SEIU 121RN
SEIU 121RN has notified Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center of its intent to hold a five-day strike, beginning Monday, Feb. 16 at 7 a.m., and ending Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7 a.m.
Patient Care Remains Our Priority
The planned strike will not impact our patients and the safe, high-quality care they receive at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center. We are fully prepared to maintain operations and provide uninterrupted patient care during the strike. We have contracted with an agency to provide highly qualified and experienced nurses and other professionals to ensure uninterrupted services and daily operations.
Contract Negotiations
We are disappointed SEIU 121RN chose this action rather than continue the important work of reaching an agreement at the bargaining table.
We respect our caregivers’ legal right to strike; however, we firmly believe that strikes only delay constructive contract talks, preventing represented caregivers from receiving the compensation increases and other contract enhancements they deserve.
Over the past seven months, Providence has bargained in good faith with the goal of reaching a competitive agreement that supports caregivers and their families while also being sustainable.
Providence remains committed to reaching a fair, market-competitive agreement and looks forward to returning to the bargaining table as soon as possible.
