Pediatric Primary Care

At Providence, we understand that keeping children well is as important as treating them when they’re sick. Our well-child exams promote the health and wellness of children from birth through adolescence. They help your child have the best possible start to life and are meant to be educational and reassuring for you, too.

During well-child visits, we do a physical exam and provide preventive care, such as immunizations. We also offer advice on diet and nutrition, safety and the general care of growing kids. Seeing your child on a regular basis gives us the chance to monitor their growth and development as well.  We track things like height, weight and developmental milestones such as speech and emotional growth.

These visits can be valuable for you too. It’s a lot of work raising a child. You’re bound to have questions and concerns. We partner with you to care for your child and give you the time and help you need to do that well. As children get older, we also bring them into this partnership. A strong relationship between all of us helps keep your child healthy and well.

We’re always available to see children who are sick. However, bringing your child to us for an illness shouldn’t take the place of a well-child exam. Exams devoted exclusively to health and wellness have their own goals and benefits.

If you’re concerned about your child’s health or development before it’s time for your next well-child exam, feel free to contact us any time.

Well-child exams start shortly after birth and continue through early adulthood. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that your child have one of these visits at each of the following ages:

  • 3 to 5 days
  • 1 months
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 2 years
  • 2 ½ years
  • Ages 3 – 21, yearly

If we identify a developmental or behavioral problem, we can intervene early and take steps to treat or manage it. With the expansive team of specialists Providence has, we make sure to get children all the help they need.

We also work with schools and community agencies to develop a personalized care plan that will help your child live the best life possible. We give you the information and support you need to advocate for your child as well.

Developmental and behavioral conditions we diagnose and treat include:

  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Autism spectrum disorders
  • Developmental delays in speech, language and motor skills
  • Developmental disabilities
  • Habit disorders
  • Learning disabilities, such as dyslexia
