Dr Higa is a caring doctor. She put me at ease from the very first visit.
Providence Patient
This was my first time seeing Dr. Higa at this Diamond Bar location. Overall, the staff was kind, and Dr. Higa continues to be compassionate, professional, and someone I feel very comfortable with. That positive experience is why I continue to see her. That said, there were a few aspects of this visit that could be improved. The lobby was extremely crowded, and the check-in process was confusing. The signage indicating which line patients should use could be clearer. Compared to my experiences at Dr. Higa's previous locations, the atmosphere felt much more hectic and less organized. After being called back by the medical assistant, I was told my vitals would be taken in one room and that I would be moved to an exam room once one became available. After my vitals were completed, I waited there for quite some time. Because the lobby had been so busy, I assumed the physician was simply running behind. Eventually, a staff member realized I was still waiting, moved me to an exam room, and assured me that Dr. Higa would see me next. When Dr. Higa came in, she apologized and confirmed that I had inadvertently been forgotten in the other room. I appreciated her acknowledgment and apology, but the experience was understandably surprising and frustrating.Additionally, the type of procedure I underwent requires an assistant to be present. During the visit, I later realized the assistant was training another staff member, resulting in an additional person in the room. Because the examination required exposure of intimate areas, I would have appreciated being informed beforehand that a trainee would be observing and being asked for my consent. Having the opportunity to decline or agree would have demonstrated respect for my privacy and comfort.Because the clinic was running behind, the visit also felt somewhat rushed.Lastly, after receiving my results, I was instructed to return in six months for follow-up. At my previous procedure in February 2025 with a nurse practitioner, I had similar negative results but was told to follow-up in one year. Based on my current recommendation, it appears that six-month follow-up may have been more appropriate at that time. Fortunately, my recent results were again negative, but I wanted to mention this in case it reflects an opportunity to improve follow-up recommendations.Overall, I remain happy with Dr. Higa's care and appreciate the kindness of the staff. My feedback is intended to help improve the patient experience, particularly with clinic workflow, communication, and respect for patient privacy during sensitive examinations.

Providence Patient
Dr. Higa does generally have a good bed side manner and takes the time to answer questions and explain things. But everytime I see Dr. Higa, she notes something that isn't quite right based on what we've talked about previously or what I have shared with her. Whether it's a symptom, medical history or something else there's always something that doesn't align, and maybe is a mix up from another patient or chart. I feel like she is not fully listening or understanding what I say during appointments. Once I felt she was dismissive of some hemoglobin results despite having anemia symptoms after a hemorrhage event and that was frustrating and disappointing. I did appreciate Dr. Higa doing a follow up call after a recent surgery, but I'm not sure I want to continue seeing her for regular care based on my current interactions with her.
Providence Patient
Dr. Higa is one of the best doctors I have ever visited. She was patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, yet incredibly caring. She truly made me feel like I was in good hands. I will definitely keep coming back to her, even though I have to travel a little further to see her. I am so glad Dr. Higa is with Providence!
