CORE announces 2022-23 Data for Change cohort

Back to CORE's website

The Center for Outcomes Research & Education (CORE) is proud to announce our 2022-2023 Data for Change cohort. In partnership with Providence Community Health Investment (CHI), CORE is partnering with a group of four CHI grant recipients to help grow their capacity to use data to address local needs and sustain and expand their promising and impactful programs. Cohort members will participate in training, receive dedicated support from CORE’s data experts and Technical Assistance (TA) coaches, and work with and learn from peer organizations.

“Data can be a powerful tool for community-based organizations, yet the capacity to use data for change efforts has traditionally been concentrated among institutions in positions of power and privilege,” explains Lizzie Fussell, Program Manager and Data for Change lead at CORE. “Data for Change responds to that challenge by working with community organizations to build the data capacity needed to shape more effective and sustainable programs, advance equity and well-being in their communities, strengthen funder relationships, and more.”

The new cohort will build on the learnings from CORE’s first-ever Data for Change cohort, which wrapped up in 2022.

The 2022-2023 Data for Change cohort consists of the following organizations:

The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) serves the holistic needs of Oregon's immigrants, refugees, and mainstream community members. IRCO empowers children, youth, families, and elders from around the world to build new lives and become self-sufficient by providing more than 200 culturally and linguistically specific social services.

United Way of Jackson County fights for the education, income, health and transportation of every person in the communities it serves. United Way brings people together to build strong, resilient, and equitable communities. Through United Way, communities tackle tough challenges and work with private, public, and nonprofit partners to boost education, economic mobility, and health resources.

Restoration House, Inc. is a residential facility located in Seaside, Oregon serving a population of men with co-occurring disorders, including substance abuse and significant psychological/behavioral issues. Restoration House offers a safe, stable, and sober community, while attempting to meet the needs of this underserved population.

Maslow Project seeks to empower homeless youth to thrive independently through supports that stabilize and engage in all aspects of life. The organization makes its services available through public schools, community-based Resource Centers in Jackson and Josephine County), and an Outreach Team that provides services on the streets or through mobile outreach to rural communities.

As part of the collaborative effort, CORE will also work with participants to understand opportunities and challenges they've experienced around using data in community settings. These organizations' wisdom and lived experiences will help inform ongoing Data for Change efforts, as well as other community-based work.
