Chronicles of House of Providence and Providence Academy, 1902

"Mother Joseph Dangerously Ill..." The first entry for 1902 describes Mother Joseph's physical and emotional state at the beginning of the year. The fifteen hand-written pages recounting her last days and death are uninterrupted by any other events of the time period.

The chronicles are the annual, chronological account of activities in each institution and house of the sisters. They were written primarily in French, even in the United States, until around 1930. Still compiled today, the chronicles form an unbroken record of Providence history going back to the earliest years of the religious community.
