Thrivorship program
We recognize that patients who endure a rigorous treatment regimen need to heal in a variety of ways. Our Thrivorship Program offers access to integrative medicine therapies, including nutritional guidance, exercise and mindful movement – with a focus on emotional, mental and spiritual wellness. Program participants receive a limited number of individual and group integrative medicine therapies at no cost. The program is specially designed for:
  • Providence patients in active treatment
  • Providence patients who have recently completed treatment
  • The patient’s caregiver/support person (companion of choice)

To learn more about classes and the Thrivorship Program, call 818-748-4701 or email thrivors@providence.org.

Nutritional counseling

Nutrition consultations with a registered dietitian are available at no cost for Providence patients with a cancer diagnosis who are currently in treatment (or recently completed treatment within the past year).

Boutique & Appearance Center

Located on the 2nd floor of the Disney Family Cancer Center, the Boutique & Appearance Center offers various gifts, unique treasures and comforting products for patients undergoing treatment. Snacks and teas are also available for purchase.

In addition, we offer free beauty services such as haircuts, styling and consultation, and wig selection and fittings. Manicures are offered by talented Beauty Bus stylists on Wednesdays (by appointment only).

  • Address transportation concerns/needs.
  • Assist with accessing community resources.
  • Be a connection between you and your provider.

Support groups

Our “Living with Cancer” support group is an opportunity to interact with other people who have similar, first-hand experiences with cancer. With group support we aim to regain a sense of control, discuss practical information, and reduce feelings of helplessness, stress or anxiety associated with cancer diagnosis and treatments.

Participants learn about supportive services, valuable resources and options; and explore ways to communicate with health care providers, friends and family members.

When: 1–2:30 p.m. on the 4th Friday of the month (November and December meetings are held earlier in the month).
Where: Disney Family Cancer Center, 2nd floor conference room

For questions or to confirm dates, call 818-847-3302.

At the Disney Family Cancer Center (DFCC) we have taken great care to include patient support services to make life easier during and after treatment. Patients can:

  • Receive advice from a dietitian on how to eat well
  • Consult with a physical therapist on how to get back to your normal activity levels
  • Explore techniques to reduce stress and learn how to relax through many different mind-body programs
  • Alleviate residual side effects from treatment, through acupuncture or massage.

For most cancer types, our survivorship program also includes a comprehensive summary document of the treatment you have received at the DFCC so that you and your doctors will know exactly what treatment was received and what your long‑term follow‑up plans are.
