Pediatric Neurosurgery
When your child's headaches or seizures lead to a diagnosis that requires surgery, it can feel overwhelming. Every parent wants happy, healthy children. The pediatric neurosurgeons at Providence share that goal and are here to help.
Trusted Pediatric Neurosurgery Care
To help you navigate your child’s treatment, we offer 24-hour parent interaction in our pediatric units. If your newborn requires neonatal care, you’ll have an experienced neonatologist available full time in our neonatal intensive care unit. And because a hospital experience can have psychosocial and developmental components for young patients, we have child-life specialists who support children and their families throughout their care.

Testing & Diagnostics
Your child’s care team creates a treatment plan based specifically on your child’s diagnosis and your family’s needs. This can include initial treatment as well as ongoing care and support.
CT scans use a combination of X-rays and computer technology to produce clear images of the body that can be used to monitor a variety of conditions, including tumors. Our services also include low-dose CT lung cancer screenings and coronary calcium scans to help evaluate calcium deposits that may have collected in the heart’s arteries.
An electroencephalogram — or EEG — is a safe, painless test that records the electrical activity of your brain using small sensors placed on your scalp. It helps your care team diagnose a number of conditions, including seizure disorders, strokes, tumors and brain injuries. By showing how your brain is working, an EEG helps us find clear answers so we can recommend the care that's right for you.
Personalized Treatment in Pediatric Neurosurgery
Treatment for young patients with brain tumors is best developed by a team that includes tumor physicians from various medical specialties. Our board-certified neurosurgeons are specially trained in surgeries for the head, spine, and nerves in infants and children. We can also care for young patients during emergencies in our Level 2 trauma center.
When your child has a neurological concern, you want specialists who understand both the condition and the child. Children with neurological problems deserve special treatment — and that's exactly what they get here. Our pediatric neuroscience specialists diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of conditions affecting the developing brain, spine and nervous system, from seizures to headaches to developmental concerns. We partner closely with you and your family to make sure your child gets the care they need to thrive, with support for the whole family along the way.
If your child needs surgical care for the brain, spine or nervous system, our pediatric neurosurgery specialists provide it with compassion and expertise — treating head and spinal trauma, tumors, hydrocephalus and malformations.
If back or neck pain hasn't improved with other treatments, spine surgery may be the next step toward relief — and you want it done by experts you trust. Our spine surgeons treat a variety of conditions, using both traditional and minimally invasive approaches to resolve spinal issues. We have the expertise to perform even complex spinal reconstruction, ensuring no portion of the spine is out of reach. Throughout your care, we take time to explain your options clearly, so you can make confident decisions and focus on recovery.
After a stroke, injury or illness affecting the nervous system, relearning everyday skills takes time, patience and expert support. Active involvement from you and your family is vital to your progress, and we're here to guide and support you all the way to the highest level of function and independence possible.
Medication management helps you take your medications safely and effectively — especially if you're managing several prescriptions at once. Your care team, including pharmacists, works with you to review what you're taking, find the most effective options for your needs and adjust or simplify your prescriptions as needed. Together, you'll build an approach that supports your health goals and gives you confidence in your care.
Our goal is to support the highest quality of life possible by embracing a holistic approach to your physical, emotional, social and spiritual care.
