Nobody expects a medical emergency, but when it happens, Providence Redwood Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department is here for you. We’re ready to help you with any medical situation all day, every day.

Our Emergency Department has eight treatment areas, each equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring systems. If you have a heart condition, we have a direct link to The Heart Institute at St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka.

Providence Redwood Memorial Hospital Emergency Department delivers quick, compassionate care to people of all ages, regardless of financial status.

We are equipped to treat all injuries and illnesses. Once you check in, one of our nurses will assess your condition and guide you on the next steps. We strive to provide the best care as quickly as possible.

Conditions that are serious or life-threatening are immediately treated. Symptoms that need immediate medical attention include: Allergic reactions 

  • Head injuries and other traumatic injuries
  • Heart attack or chest pain
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Poisoning
  • Severe bleeding
  • Severe trouble breathing
  • Sudden, severe pain
  • Stroke (sudden confusion, numbness, paralysis, slurred speech)
  • Sudden eyesight problems (blurriness or loss of vision)

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, call 911 right away.

Our dedicated medical staff includes registered nurses and emergency medical technicians (EMTs). They are active participants at community health events. Our medical staff also trains students in nursing, paramedic and EMT programs.

To ensure you receive high-quality care, your emergency doctor may refer you to our specialists, including:

  • Cardiologists
  • General surgeons
  • Internists
  • Orthopedic surgeons
  • Pediatricians 

We’re committed to your care, even after your visit. If you have a primary care doctor, we can send them a copy of your visit record on your behalf. If you don’t have a primary care doctor, we can refer you to a qualified physician for follow-up care.

We understand that during an emergency you want your loved ones by your side. Please let your nurse know if you have visitors in the waiting room. We will keep them informed on your progress.
