With breast cancer, you’ve likely heard that early detection is the best protection. And it’s true. At the Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center, our goal is to provide the earliest breast cancer detection that keeps you and the women in your life healthy and prepared.

We give women in southern Oregon access to the best diagnostic technology. This includes bone density screenings and mammograms that help check for conditions like breast cancer and osteoporosis.

American College of RadiologyThe American College of Radiology has designated the Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. With our innovative technology and specialized care team, we help you understand your health history with risk assessments. No matter your concerns, we’re here for you. Learn more about breast cancer screening and risk reduction.

We offer a range of services to keep you in control of your health:

Does breast or ovarian cancer run in your family? We can help you find answers and protect yourself. When you know you’re at risk for something, you can make choices that keep you healthy.

Our team offers genetic testing and counseling that looks for markers linked to an increased risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. These markers are called BRCA1 and BRCA2. If we find these markers on your test, we can discuss options with you to help you manage and lower your cancer risk.

One of our patients, Nicki, said this about her cancer risk assessment:

“Having the test is empowering but overwhelming. My first impulse was to do something now. Instead, I stepped back and got counseling,” says Nicki. “Being a BRCA2 carrier does not mean bad things will happen immediately. There is time to process information and make the best possible decisions for yourself and your family.”

Not sure if you need to be tested? Take the hereditary cancer quiz.

It’s important that you feel fully supported in your health care journey. We have several services that can help.

Financial assistance

For the countless uninsured women in southern Oregon, screening mammograms are a luxury and often overshadowed by other necessities. Since 2003, Providence has provided access to charitable mammography funds so that the cost of a screening doesn’t get in the way of important preventative care. These funds include:

Sister Therese Kohles Fund – supported by the generosity of individuals and businesses in Southern Oregon, such as The Human Bean and the annual Tee it Up to Battle Breast Cancer golf tournament.

Oregon Breast and Cervical Cancer Program – supported by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Oregon and SW Washington Affiliate and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For more information, call the toll-free hotline at 877-255-7070.

Our oncology-certified nurse navigators work with each patient to meet their medical and emotional needs. They also provide free assessment and counseling for those at high risk for developing hereditary breast or ovarian cancer.
