Adult Outpatient Neurology & Sleep Center
Our staff of specialized technologists, sleep disorder specialists and professionals from pulmonary medicine and neurology work together to evaluate symptoms, diagnose conditions and provide treatment options.
Covenant is home to a six-bed sleep lab where our team is able to perform sleep studies to ensure proper diagnosis of various sleep disorders.
Disorders we treat include:
- Sleep apnea
The evaluation process generally begins with a sleep test that uses painless, non-invasive monitoring systems to record sleep patterns, breathing, heart activity and muscle movements. Our specialists review the results of the study and recommend the most effective treatment. Some conditions may require medication, while others simply call for a change in daily habits.
Covenant Children's neurologists will work closely with your doctor to help diagnose and treat disorders of the nervous system, including diseases of the brain, nerves, muscles and spinal cord injuries.
Conditions commonly treated include:
- Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
- ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Parkinson’s disease
- Various forms of pain
Your doctor may also refer you for a test called a nerve conduction study. It’s often used to determine if your condition involves the nerves, muscles, spinal cord or brain. In addition to helping detect the cause of numbness, tingling or pain, a nerve conduction study can help diagnose nerve disorders including carpal tunnel syndrome and pinched nerves.
