Caregiver examining a young patient at clinic

At Covenant Children’s, we know the difficulties a family faces when a child is diagnosed with a congenital heart defect or disease. We offer comprehensive, personalized and state-of-the-art care for children who have a suspected or diagnosed heart problem.

Cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons treat complex congenital heart defects using techniques that were considered impossible just a decade ago. Parents whose children need specialized cardiac care no longer need to travel to receive excellent and proficient care.

Cardiology services offered include:

  • Full spectrum of non-invasive cardiac testing
  • Cardiac arrhythmias
  • Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI)
  • Cardiac CT scans
  • Echocardiography and fetal echocardiography
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG)
  • Home monitoring
  • Exercise testing
  • Pediatric and fetal congenital cardiology assessments

Covenant Children's is the only hospital in the region to offer pediatric cardiovascular surgery via a partnership with Cook Children's Hospital. Depending on the procedure required and complexity of the case, Cook's team of expert provider's may either perform the surgery at Covenant Children's in Lubbock or at Cook's campus in Fort Worth.

In general, a patient is considered for surgery at Covenant Children's if they are non-emergent and they have a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), ventricular septal defect (VSD) or atrial septal defect (ASD).
