With an emphasis on patient dignity and comfort, we at the Neuroscience department at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center offer optimal treatment programs for you or a loved one’s neurological needs.

We provide comprehensive care to patients suffering from neurological disorders through a range of specialty services, including disease management (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s), therapy, medication, support groups and neurosurgery. As part of our multidisciplinary approach, neurology and neurosurgery teams work closely with our support departments to provide patients with the most comprehensive care possible.

Providence Holy Cross Medical Center's Level II Trauma Center, a 24-bed intensive care unit, is equipped and designed to treat patients who experience a catastrophic brain injury or spinal cord injury. A neurosurgeon is available in the center 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to the needs of any patient who comes through our trauma center. The multi-disciplinary team includes neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, trauma surgeons, nursing and technical staff, physical therapists and occupational therapists, and social workers.

Stroke support group

Note: This group is currently on hold but expected to resume in 2023. 

To help stroke survivors, their families, and close friends cope with the aftermath of a stroke, this group provides education and discussions of the social, emotional, and physical aspects of a stroke, as well as offering a forum to learn new coping skills. Open discussions within the group help to promote each participant's personal development and well-being.

Meets: Last Wednesday of each month, 4 - 5:30 p.m.

In addition to treating brain injuries and neurological disorders, the medical specialists at Providence Holy Cross also work closely with patients to evaluate and provide treatment of back and neck conditions. We understand the impact spine injuries have on a patient’s day-to-day life, so we make sure to provide effective treatments such as artificial disk replacement, laminectomy and spinal fusion.
