Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit provides a wide variety of care critical illnesses, including:

  • Level II trauma
  • Medical intensive care
  • Neurological
  • Open-heart surgery
  • Respiratory
  • Surgical intensive care

We also provide care for children who don’t have a critical illness but need specialized monitoring and close observation.

An intensive care unit can feel intimidating. There are IVs and catheters being placed, monitors and ventilators beeping. We take every possible step to make sure you and your family are as comfortable as possible while you’re with us.Care teams include registered nurses, respiratory therapists, pediatric intensivists and clinical pharmacists, all of whom have specialized training in the care of critically ill children.We also have a highly-trained support staff who specialize in pediatrics, including case management, chaplain services, child life specialists, dieticians, as well as occupational, speech, and physical therapists.

Although our primary focus is inpatient critical care, the PICU also provides a safe, child-oriented environment for many outpatient procedures, such as:

  • Bronchoscopy
  • Endoscopy
  • Line and tube placements
