Welcome to Providence's 2022 Annual Report
Providence’s more than 165-year legacy of serving and investing in communities is rooted in a tradition of caring for those in need in partnership with the people we serve.
To achieve our vision of health for a better world, the Providence family of organizations combines a long-standing commitment to improving community health with high-quality care to create healthy communities and promote health equity.
Our community benefit programs are vital to this vision. Each year, Providence ministries and affiliates identify unmet needs and respond with strategic investments in community health that help ensure basic health needs are met and serve to remove barriers to care, build community resilience and innovate for the future.
In 2022, Providence ministries and affiliates invested nearly $2.1 billion in community benefit programs, including free and discounted, low-cost (charity care) and uncompensated and subsidized care. This is our largest investment in community benefit to date and represents an increase of more than $600 million since 2019.
Our steadfast commitment to responding to community need is one of the many ways we live out our Mission and continue to serve as a vital safety net for those who are vulnerable.
