Mission Hospital Leads the Way with Histotripsy
In March 2024, Providence Mission Hospital became the first hospital in California to provide histotripsy, a new treatment option for liver tumors. Histotripsy works by using targeted ultrasound waves to form microbubbles within the tumor. This noninvasive, FDA-approved procedure has minimal side effects, and patients have little-to-no down time after the procedure.
This form of treatment provides hope to patients who are not candidates for surgery or have tried other forms of treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation without success.
