Gynecology

When pelvic pain and abnormal bleeding don’t respond to other treatments, robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery may offer a highly effective option that is much gentler than conventional surgeries.

At Providence Medford Medical Center, hundreds of women have benefited from robotic-assisted surgery for endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts and benign tumors. In addition, Providence is the only hospital in the region performing complex robotic fibroid-removal surgeries (myomectomies). These procedures are performed by a highly experienced robotic-certified gynecological surgeon in one of our state-of-the-art robotic surgery suites.

Robotic-assisted surgery offers distinct advantages.

Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the uterus. For women who are no longer considering pregnancy, a hysterectomy offers permanent, effective relief from pelvic pain and bleeding caused by fibroids or endometriosis.

Providence Medford Medical Center offers exceptional expertise in robotic-assisted hysterectomies performed through tiny incisions. Patients typically can go home the same day.

Fibroids, also called myomas, are abnormal growths in or on the uterus that can cause pain, pressure, bleeding and fertility problems. When other treatments fail, robotic surgery to remove the fibroids is an excellent option.

Providence Medford is unmatched in Southern Oregon for its experience in robotic fibroid surgery, and is the only hospital in the region performing complex myomectomies to restore fertility in women whose fibroids have prevented pregnancy.

Endometriosis is a condition that causes the lining of the uterus to grow outside the uterus. When tissue builds up, it can cause serious pain and bleeding. Endometriosis resection is a surgery to remove this extra tissue without removing the uterus (hysterectomy), for women who want to maintain their ability to become pregnant.

At Providence Medford, we routinely perform endometriosis resections in our robotic surgery suites, where the precise instruments allow us to remove even difficult-to-separate areas.
