Nursing Professional Practice Model

Developed by clinical nurses and nurse leaders of the Professional Advancement Council, the Nursing Professional Practice Model was unveiled in 2026 to articulate the shared identity, purpose and vision of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center nursing.

Inspired by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring, the model recognizes nursing as both a scientific discipline and a sacred calling. Through authentic relationships and compassionate presence, nurses create meaningful connections that foster healing, nurture hope and support wholeness for those entrusted to their care. Like seeds planted with intention, each caring encounter has the potential to inspire growth, transformation and lasting impact.
