About Us

Providence Mount Carmel Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access hospital serving a three-county area in Northeast Washington. We provide a full-service hospital with advanced medical and surgical care, specialty support and outpatient services. Thanks to a recent remodeling project, the medical center offers enhanced patient rooms and a more efficient emergency room. Our maternity suites rival those found in urban hospitals and diagnostic imaging services feature technology normally not available in rural hospitals.

Providence serves Steven's County in northeast Washington state at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, and St. Joseph's Hospital and DominiCare in Chewelah.

Both hospitals provide services generally found at larger urban facilities, in an intimate, convenient setting, including emergency room, maternity/childbirth, physical therapy, orthopedic and radiology services.

The experts at DominiCare provide essential services - such as personal care, household assistance and family respite - to the frail, elderly and impaired residents of Stevens, Pend Oreille and Ferry counties, helping them maintain independence.

When submitting a complaint to the Joint Commission about an accredited organization, you may either provide your name and contact information or submit your complaint anonymously. Providing your name and contact information enables the Joint Commission to inform you about the actions taken in response to your complaint, and also to contact you should additional information be needed. It is the Joint Commission's policy to treat your name as confidential information and not to disclose it to any other party. However, it may be necessary to share the complaint with Providence Health & Services in the course of a complaint investigation.

Joint Commission policy forbids an accredited organization from taking retaliatory actions against employees for having reported a patient safety or quality of care concern to the Joint Commission.
