Sheryl Vacca

Sheryl Vacca serves as chief risk officer for Providence and oversees compliance, audit, risk, claims and insurance, captive management, physical security, and business continuity. She also works closely with information security.

Before joining Providence, Sheryl was chief compliance and audit officer at the University of California – an inaugural role for the institution. Her earlier career includes regulatory and compliance leadership roles at Deloitte and Sutter Health, as well as nursing leadership and clinical roles. In addition, Sheryl served as an officer in the U.S. Army and reserves. She is past president and current board member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, and also serves as a University of Providence board member and chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Sheryl earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington State University and master’s degree from Texas Women’s University, and is a licensed RN. She has published in her field and is an international speaker.
