About Us

Your heart is at the center of so much that matters, and healing hearts is our specialty. Our doctors and care teams offer complete cardiovascular services to help keep your heart healthy.

In emergency rooms, catheterization labs, surgical suites and intensive care units, our cardiologists evaluate chest pain, open blocked arteries and fix leaky valves. Providence heart and vascular doctors work across medical specialties to treat arteries, veins and a host of heart problems and related medical conditions that might play a role in your heart’s health, such as diabetes or obesity.

Why Choose Us for Heart and Vascular Care?

As a nationally recognized center of excellence for heart and vascular care, we’re known for providing our patients with the highest quality care and treatment – all close to home. With the largest group of physicians in the region and more than 20 outpatient locations throughout the Inland Northwest, you have convenient access to all our heart services. But accessible, top-rated care is just one of the reasons we perform more cardiovascular procedures than any other health system in the region. Here are six more:

As part of our commitment to comprehensive patient care, we have the only heart transplant center, the only pediatric heart center and the only adult and teen congenital heart center in the Inland Northwest. We also have the largest robotic thoracic program in the region.

Our team uses minimally invasive procedures in many cases to improve outcomes and reduce recovery times. For example, we were the first hospital in the region with a cardiac surgery robot.

Providence Heart Institute is proud to be deeply involved in the continual advancement of cardiovascular treatment and therapies. Our Spokane doctors were the first to pioneer emergency surgery to repair heart arteries for a patient having a heart attack. This has helped make heart attack treatment around the world less invasive. Our doctors also performed the region’s first heart transplant in 1986.

As our patient, you can take part in one of the Providence network’s many clinical trials. These include FDA-regulated trials to develop new cardiovascular therapies. Providence also participates in national cardiovascular data registries to continually improve outcomes and patient care.

Our 80+ board-certified heart and vascular physicians and advanced practice providers are experts in the most advanced therapeutic and surgical techniques. They take a team-based approach to your heart care, working with some of the best surgeons, advanced practice nurses and nurse navigators in the region. Our team performs more cardiovascular procedures than any other hospital in Washington state, so you know you’re getting the best, most experienced care – all within your local community.

We know that putting patients first leads to the best outcomes. That’s why we don’t just care for your heart – we care for all it beats for. We provide patients with a wide range of support services that extend well beyond traditional treatment. Our offerings include everything from prevention and education to nutrition, pain management and spiritual care.

Because of our experience in subspecialty heart and vascular care, our providers meet regularly as multidisciplinary teams to review the most complex situations. This means you are getting the best treatment without having to visit another doctor or specialist outside the region. In fact, several people from the other side of the state and surrounding states come to Spokane for these specialized treatments.

We understand that the impact of heart disease is greater in some communities. Genetics plays a part, but unequal access to great health care is also a factor. At Providence, we strive to ensure our patients have access to the best heart care. We offer free and low-cost educational and prevention programs to help people transform their overall heart health.

We value, respect and support the racial, ethnic, religious, spiritual, gender and sexual identities of each member of our diverse community. We welcome all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. We aim to treat every patient equally and with dignity – whoever you are, and wherever you are in your journey.
