The Birth Place
The Birth Place
Get ready for one of the most memorable events of your lifetime – the grand entrance of your newborn.
At Providence Sacred Heart Birth Place, you make the birth plan for your baby. And our highly skilled doctors and nurses will support your labor of love in any way you wish.
To help you feel at home, we provide comfortable birth rooms with a bed, jacuzzi bathtub, rocking chair, birthing balls, TV, music player and a day bed for your support person. If you choose to have anesthesia, our anesthesiologists or nurse anesthetists are here for you 24 hours a day.
We also offer the Antepartum Unit for women having difficulty in pregnancy and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for newborns who need specialized care.
When your baby is born, you’ll hear the sound of chimes softly ringing throughout the birth place.

Breastfeeding provides ideal nutrition for your little one, but for many mothers and babies, it takes a little practice and patience. At Providence Sacred Heart Birth Place, our nurses and lactation consultants help you with:
- Babies with special needs
- Comfortable positioning
- Correct attachment
- Other common breastfeeding challenges
After you leave the hospital, our lactation consultants are available for phone consultations or personal appointments at the Women’s Center. Fees for this service may be paid, in full or in part, by your insurance. We are committed to helping you breastfeed your baby successfully. At Providence Sacred Heart Birth Place, we offer a wide range of classes to support you before and after your baby is born.
Discover your body’s natural physical signs of fertility. The Natural Method of Family Planning can help you space out or avoid pregnancies. NFP is also helpful for low-fertility couples who would like to achieve a pregnancy. The basic course consists of one class each month for three consecutive months.
