The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating (Overall Star Rating) summarizes a variety of measures across five areas of quality into a single star rating (between 1 and 5 stars) for each hospital. The five measure groups include mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care.
