Providence Perioperative Medicine
Our Approach
Perioperative Medicine at Providence St. Patrick Hospital helps you prepare for surgery by optimizing your health. We use a team-based approach to treatment from the time you meet your surgeon through your recovery after surgery.
Our providers complete a full assessment to help identify any health conditions or comorbidities you may have that could lead to complications during anesthesia and surgery, or after surgery. Taking steps such as improving your nutrition, exercising and kicking unhealthy habits before your procedure can help you heal faster afterward and shorten your hospital stay.
If your surgeon believes you’ll benefit from a pre-surgery consultation, they’ll refer you to us. We’ll call you to set up an appointment once you’re scheduled for your procedure. If you’re interested in a referral to Perioperative Medicine, you can also request one from your surgeon.
We’ll evaluate your medical history and may order blood tests or other procedures to determine how we can help you be your healthiest before surgery.
We see patients scheduled for a variety of surgeries, including but not limited to:
- Bariatric
- Knee replacement
- Hip replacement
- Orthopedic
- Spine
- Colorectal
- Urology
- Head and neck
If you’re preparing for surgery, talk to your surgeon about a referral.
