A Message from Our Chief Nursing Officer

This year we celebrate the journey to our fifth ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation. I reflect often on the sustained commitment to nursing excellence that has brought us to this milestone. With less than 10% of U.S. hospitals having achieved this great recognition and only 3% having four or more designations, the journey to our fifth designation represents the high quality of our patient care. It honors the spirit, dedication, and excellence that our nurses bring to every patient encounter. I’m grateful for our nursing colleagues and interprofessional teams who uphold our Mission and values through the care they provide.

Providence Portland Medical Center has been a Magnet®-designated organization since 2005. Our Magnet® culture defines how we lead, the structures that provide a voice for nursing and promote professional growth, a demonstrated pursuit of excellence, a passion for the generation of new knowledge and innovations and improvements. It’s due to these guiding principles that we’re in the final stages of our fifth Magnet® designation journey, a significant milestone that warrants recognition and celebration.
