Prevention4Me is coming soon

In the U.S. 1 in 3 women in the U.S. will develop cancer in their lifetime, and at least 1 in 10 cancer cases are hereditary. Among women 40 years and older, half have dense breasts, which increase their breast cancer risk.

At Providence Swedish, we can help women proactively manage cancer risks through a simple online assessment and genetic testing for eligible patients. Knowledge is power, especially for 90% of women who are unaware of their inherited risk of cancer.

Prevention4ME assesses risk

The online Prevention4ME assessment is easy. It’s completed as part of the routine intake before a patient’s regular appointment and includes personal and family health history questions to identify the potential risk of cancer (breast and others).

Prevention4ME is empowering

Based on the questionnaire responses, Prevention4ME identifies and stratifies two categories of cancer risk for a patient by assessing:

1. Your risk of developing breast cancer over your lifetime

  • A patient’s lifetime empirical risk of breast cancer is estimated based on the Tyrer-Cuzick (TC) model. Prevention4ME calculates the patient’s TC score.

2. Your eligibility for genetic testing for inherited cancers

  • A patient’s eligibility for genetic testing for inherited cancer risk is based on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Genetic/Familial High-risk Guidelines. If NCCN genetic testing guidelines are met, Prevention4ME recommends further genetic testing.

If you live in Snohomish County, after you schedule your mammogram at the Everett Comprehensive Breast Center you will receive an invitation to take the online Prevention4Me assessment to help assess your breast cancer risk.
