Providence Cancer Institute Franz Dysplasia Clinic

Mon - Fri: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Providence Cancer Institute Franz Dysplasia Clinic focuses on people who have or are at high risk for anal dysplasia. This is a spectrum of disease that ranges from low-grade lesions, such as anogenital condyloma and low-grade precancers, to high-grade precancerous lesions with potential to progress into invasive anal cancer.

Precancerous lesions, and nearly 90 percent of anal cancers, are due to chronic infection with oncogenic strains of human papillomavirus. Simple screenings allow for earlier detection of precancerous changes caused by HPV. We effectively screen for and treat anal dysplasia, with the aim of preventing it from progressing into anal cancer.

We provide a comprehensive combination of cytology and office-based procedures. These approaches are shown to eliminate high-grade dysplasia lesions in up to 80 percent of patients and to reduce the number of lesions that progress into cancer.
