Healthy Heart Screening - $99

  • Health Risk Assessment - One-on-one with a heart nurse to review risk factors, diet, and exercise recommendations and help you understand the risks associated with heart disease and what you can do to reduce them. The assessment includes measuring your heart rate, blood pressure, and body mass index (BMI).
  • Stroke/Carotid Artery Screening - A noninvasive test to look for plaque buildup within your arteries that can lead to a stroke. The carotid artery, located in your neck, is one of the main arteries that supplies blood to your brain. Stroke is the third leading cause of death in this country. More than half of all strokes in older Americans are due to carotid artery disease, and there are proven treatments to reduce strokes in those cases.
  • Abdominal Aortic Screening - A noninvasive ultrasound of the abdominal aorta, which is the large artery that carries blood to the lower half of your body. An aneurysm is a weakened area of your aorta that has distended and could potentially rupture. This is the 10th leading cause of death in men age 50 and older in this country, but most people don’t know they have an aneurysm. An aneurysm can be treated successfully when it is diagnosed early, but rupture is fatal in most cases.
  • Ankle/Brachial Index (ABI) Screening - A test to look for peripheral arterial disease (PAD). This is a measurement of blood flow at the ankle level to check for any blockages that may have developed in the arteries of your legs. PAD affects the health of millions of older Americans, at least a quarter of those over 70. People with PAD have a much higher risk of stroke and heart attack, but these risks can be reduced if PAD is diagnosed early.
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) - An electrocardiogram is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat. This test allows a doctor to determine if the electrical activity is normal or slow, fast or irregular. By measuring the amount of electrical activity passing through the heart muscle, a cardiologist may be able to find out if parts of the heart are too large or are overworked.

What to Expect

The entire series of tests takes approximately one hour. The appointment will also include a visit with a Wellness Nurse and a Wellness Health Coach to help start your journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Insurance

Insurance generally does not cover the cost of screenings such as these, which would qualify as out-of-pocket expenses. Since cardiovascular disease can actually be prevented or lessened by reducing risk factors, these tests are truly invaluable for your future health and well-being.
